The Challenge


As PayPal embarked on its Venmo digital wallet, its SVP of Engineering faced a daunting task. PayPal needed to hit aggressive targets and develop extensive features on its product roadmap, but its recruiting partner — a prestigious global leader — wasn't able to deliver fast enough to meet PayPal's goals. As recruiters languished, PayPal continued to fall further and further behind.

PayPal brought Coit in to resuscitate extremely high-stakes recruiting — to rapidly identify, engage and hire premiere engineering talent. Embedding six recruiters and one recruiting coordinator at PayPal, we deployed Method by Coit℠, bringing our proven process, talent technology and expert team to bear for PayPal’s benefit.

Often a monumental lift and shift for legacy RPO companies, innovation is baked into our ethos and Method. Whereas PayPal’s previous recruiting partner had focused on inbound, slogging through the bottom 20% of candidates, we flipped the script to focus on the top 20%, initiating an aggressive outbound strategy to find the right people rapidly.

Devising campaigns to attract best-fit candidates who would thrive long-term, we amplified PayPal’s hiring brand through active storytelling and differentiation, engaging top-tier talent who had their choice to work anywhere.
